Zoom Equipment Setup

For Zoom lessons, it's much easier to show what you're doing on the keyboard if you have a tablet/phone holder and tripod. You can get little kits that come with everything you need or you can buy them separately.  If possible it's best to use a larger tablet and tablet holder on top of a tripod.  This lets you (or your kid) see what I'm doing more easily.  The tablet's camera can also be positioned to clearly show the student's hands and piano keys which makes it much easier for me to give good feedback about what's being played.

Tablet Holder and Tripod

With an adjustable angled tablet, mount connected to an adjustable-height tripod, you can easily see what's going on and get a good video angle to show what you're doing on the keyboard.

Latest Version of Zoom

Make sure you have the latest version of the Zoom App since recent updates have improved audio for music lessons.

Best Audio Settings on Zo

The default settings on Zoom are not good for music because they send lower quality audio and often block the sound of the piano, thinking that it's background noise.
